CHICAGO — The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) announced that through September 2, 2010, it has received 101,882 eligible Monetary Award Program (MAP) grant applications since the agency began denying eligible applicants due to exhaustion of funds on Monday, April 19.
BLOOMINGTON – September 8, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today announced the launch of a nearly $100 million project to construct more than 1,000 new miles of high-speed fiber optic broadband infrastructure in 55 Illinois counties. Supported by Illinois Jobs Now! capital funding, a $62 million competitive federal award will modernize Illinois’ high-tech infrastructure, creating approximately 676 jobs and serving more than 285,000 businesses and nearly four million households.
CHICAGO – September 8, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today joined Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Secretary Gary Hannig and local officials to announce plans to reconstruct the existing interchange located at I-80 and IL Route 178. The $14.9 million project will help relieve road construction, enhance roadway safety, and create approximately 175 jobs.
LISLE – September 8, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today announced that Navistar International Corporation will keep its headquarters in Illinois and is moving forward with its plans to expand its Illinois operations, which will create and retain 3,000 permanent jobs and 400 construction jobs over the next several years. Governor Quinn proposed, helped to pass and signed legislation into law in June to expand the Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credit that specifically benefits Navistar, which was the company’s determining factor to stay in Illinois.
