The MLETC administers a written and physical test in order to create a pool of qualified applicants for the position of entry-level peace officer. The following agencies participate in this process: City of Belgrade, City of Billings, City of Bozeman, City of Fairview, City of Glasgow, City of Great Falls, City of Helena, City of Havre, City of Laurel, County of Lewis & Clark, City of Lewistown, City of Miles City and the County of Valley. Typically, four to six officer positions are filled each year. Testing for police officers occur on a continuous basis through the Montana Law Enforcement Testing Consortium . The eligibility of an applicant is maintained for a period of one year.
