Detectives from the Montgomery County Police 5th / 6th District Investigative Section have made an arrest in a kidnapping and attempted murder of a 31-year-old male victim.
On January 22nd at approximately 8:00 a.m., 6th District officers responded to a remote location in the woods on Game Preserve Road in Gaithersburg for the report of a robbery. Once on the scene they spoke to the victim who told them he had been forced at gunpoint from his home in the 19800 block of Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown. The suspects ordered him into a vehicle and drove to an ATM machine where the victim was forced to withdraw an undisclosed amount of currency. Once the suspects had the currency, they drove the victim to the remote area on Game Preserve Road and forced him, again at gunpoint, to walk into the woods. Fearing for his life, the victim physically fought with the suspects. One of the suspects shot at the victim at which time he feigned injury and the suspects fled the scene. The victim suffered only minor scratches during the incident.

Identification of Suspects Needed in Aspen Hill Confidence Scheme
The Montgomery County Police Department 4th District Property Crimes Unit is investigating a confidence scheme that occurred on January 10 in the AspenHillShopping Center.Today, investigators are releasing photographs of one of the suspects involved in this scheme and are asking for the public’s help in identifying these suspects.Police also believe that there may be additional victims who have not called to report these thefts.

Today, Scott Duane Spear, age 47, of the 1600 block of Auburn Avenue in Rockville was arrested and charged with two counts of committing a fourth-degree sex offense.Spear is a teacher at Julius West Middle School and the basketball and track coach at Richard Montgomery High School, both in Rockville.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section are investigating two armed robberies of a Germantown Subway that occurred on January 11 and January 31.
On January 11, at approximately 9:17 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the Subway located at 12601 Wisteria Drive for a report of a robbery.Investigation revealed that the suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the register.The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled from the store.
